Red Sox wild comeback win against Yankees
Another dramatic game between the Red Sox and Yankees, but hey aren't these the best games? :) Well they are if you're the fan of the winning team I guess. After the 3rd inning, the score was 4-0 Yankees. In the 4th inning, Robinson Cano hit a 2-run double to make it 6-0 Yankees. In the bottom of the 4th inning, it was Boston's turn. Jason Bay singled, which drove in a run making it 6-1 Yankees. Jason Varitek hit a grand slam to make it a 6-5 Yankees lead.
Then in the 5th inning, Jacoby Ellsbury hit a solo home run to tie the game 6-6. Jason Bay comes through again, this time hitting a 2-run double giving the Red Sox the 8-6 lead. But the Yankees wouldn't back down as in the 6th inning, Johnny Damon hit a 2-run home run to tie the game 8-8. Back and forth we go. For the Red Sox in the 6th inning, David Ortiz hit a sec fly to make it a 9-8 lead for the Red Sox.
In the 7th inning, the Yankees scored twice on a Dustin Pedroia error making it a 10-9 Yankees lead. In the bottom of the 7th inning, Mike Lowell hit a 3-run home run to make it a 12-10 Red Sox lead. In the top of the 8th inning, Yankees' Robinson Cano hit a solo home run making it a 12-11 Red Sox lead. In the bottom of the 8th inning the Red Sox packed it on making sure the Yankees couldn't come back. First Dustin Pedroia hit an RBI single making it 13-11 Red Sox. Then Mike Lowell hit a 3-run double making it a 16-11 Red Sox lead.
Red Sox starter Josh Beckett pitched 5 innings, allowing 10 hits, 8 runs, striking out 3 and walking 4, while giving up 2 home runs. Hideki Okajima pitched 0.2 innings, walking 1 and giving up a home run, but he got the win and is 2-0 this season now. Yankees starter A.J. Burnett pitched 5 innings, allowing 8 hits, 8 runs, striking out 3 and walking 3, while also giving up 2 home runs. Yankees Jonathan Albaladejo got the loss and is 2-1 now. Mike Lowell finished the game going 2 for 5, scoring 1 run, with 6 RBIs. Jason Bay went 2 for 3, scoring 3 runs, with 3 RBIs.
