The Boston Red Sox have came back from a 3-0 ALCS series lead by the Yankees to tie it up and the Red Sox and Yankees will play game 7 tomorrow, Wednesday, October 20. What a comeback by the Red Sox. They have made history because they are the first team to ever force a game 7 when down in the series 3-0. This isn't related to the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry but on Saturday, July 31, 2004, a major trade took place for the Boston Red Sox. They send All-Star SS Nomar Garciaparra to the Chicago Cubs. Out of that four team trade, the Boston Red Sox receive Gold Glove 1B Doug Mientkiewicz (Twins) and Gold Glove SS Orlando Cabrera (Expos).

The best rivalry in all of sports just got a little better. Today Alex Rodriguez and Jason Varitek got into it after Rodriguez got hit by a Bronson Arroyo pitch in the 3rd inning. Varitek and Rodriguez exchanged some words, then Rodriguez looked as if he was saying some f-bombs and then "Come on! Come on!" to Varitek. So Varitek pushed/open-hand punched Rodriguez in the face and they wrestled each other to the ground as both benches emptied and they rushed to where Rodriguez and Varitek were. During the brawl, to the side, Tanyon Sturtze puts a head-lock around Gabe Kapler's head from behind and David Ortiz comes over and tries to push Sturtze to the ground to help Kapler. Trot Nixon also came over to help Kapler. See the story on ESPN.com. You can also see pictures and watch the video of the brawl.
An unrelated 'kind of funny' story
"Nomar cutout held on $70M ransom" by Brock Parker/Somerville Journal, Thursday, July 22, 2004 and also found on ESPN.com:
“ According to the Boston Herald, a life-sized autographed cardboard cutout of SS Nomar Garciaparra was stolen from a Somerville packy for the second time in a week -- and the thief wants $70 million in ransom. The note, constructed of letters cut from a newspaper, said the $70 million should be paid to Garciaparra's wife, soccer star Mia Hamm. The demand was accompanied by Polaroids of the 6-foot replica. John Wood, owner of Woody's Liquors, said he isn't calling the cops because he thinks the Red Sox should trade Garciaparra: "Personally, I don't mind if he doesn't come back because I think he's overrated." ”
No where else but in Boston would that happen, no where else. Boston is the best baseball city, no doubt. You wouldn't hear a story like that from anywhere else.
